When Is the Best Time to Install a New Fence?
15 July 2026 · 4 min read
In the UK, the short answer is: late spring through early autumn. Here's why — and why winter isn't always a bad option.
Spring (March–May)
Ground is workable, weather is drying up, and you get the fence in before summer. This is our busiest period.
Summer (June–August)
Dry ground makes post-setting easier. Concrete cures faster. Downside: high demand, and quality timber and panels can sell out.
Autumn (September–October)
Great time for materials — stock is available and prices are stable. Get it done before the winter storms.
Winter (November–February)
Not ideal — waterlogged ground makes post-holes miserable — but it's the quietest time. If a storm has flattened your fence, don't wait; we deliver year-round from our Wednesbury yard.
